The latest NDIS Quarterly Report for June 30, 2024, brings promising news for participants, their families, and carers. The figures indicate a trend of cost stabilisation and enhanced outcomes, reflecting the scheme's growing impact on the lives of more than 661,000 Australians.

Encouraging Employment Statistics

One of the standout achievements highlighted in the report is the rise in employment among families and carers. Over half (52%) of these individuals are now engaged in paid employment, surpassing the target of 50% set for the 2023-24 period. This uptick not only boosts household incomes but also enhances the overall well-being of families involved with the NDIS.

Empowerment Through Choice and Control

The NDIS is also making strides in empowering participants. An impressive 76% of participants aged 15 and older report that the scheme has provided them with more choice and control over their lives, exceeding the target of 75% for the same period. This statistic underscores the scheme's success in promoting independence and personal agency among its participants.

Growing Social Engagement

Another positive trend is the increased participation in community and social activities. The NDIS is playing a crucial role in helping individuals feel more connected and involved in their communities, which is essential for mental and emotional well-being.

Support for First Nations People

The report also notes a significant increase in the number of First Nations people receiving support. Of the over 14,000 new participants this quarter, 9.9% are First Nations people. This inclusivity is a critical step towards ensuring that the benefits of the NDIS are accessible to all Australians, regardless of their background.

The latest NDIS Quarterly Report paints an encouraging picture of progress and positive change. With continued focus and support, the NDIS is not only stabilizing costs but also enriching the lives of participants, their families, and carers.
